Teen Spirit Meets Singalong Anthem in Freight’s Festival-Fueled Second Single “The Only Thing I Know”

Warrington Quartet Channel Coming-Of-Age Honesty in Lead-Up to Debut EP “Kaleidoscope”

Teenage indie rockers FREIGHT are charging through their breakthrough year with the release of their second single, The Only Thing I Know—a heartfelt, hands-in-the-air anthem that’s already become a standout moment in their live sets. Released in the heat of a bustling summer festival run, the track cements the Warrington-based four-piece’s arrival as one of the UK’s freshest voices in youth-driven alternative music.

Comprising lifelong friends Luka, Ted, Jacob, and Anton, FREIGHT’s charm lies in their tight-knit bond and raw energy, both on and off stage. Their live calendar this season has been stacked with high-profile moments—from supporting The K’s at Newton Festival to storming the stage at Stranger Ways and Together Again Festival. This relentless schedule has not only sharpened their sound but also given them the chance to road-test tracks like The Only Thing I Know in front of live audiences hungry for unfiltered, relatable stories.

Frontman Luka Gunes admits the track is a personal favourite to perform: “I teach the chorus to the crowd and hearing them sing it back is honestly magic.” That communal feel is baked into the song’s DNA. Drawing inspiration from the awkward adrenaline of teen crushes and the nerve it takes to break through shyness, the single channels the social blunders of a stereotypical “lads night” into something deeper and more tender. Luka cites Superbad as a key influence—wanting to mirror that same nervous charm in the song’s storytelling—and in doing so, the track reveals itself to be an understated love song beneath the bravado.

Recorded at Lounge Studios in Wigan and Soundhouse Studios in Liverpool with acclaimed producer Gareth Nuttall, The Only Thing I Know is the second release from the band’s upcoming debut EP Kaleidoscope, due out October 8th. The EP, already available for pre-order on CD and vinyl via the band’s socials, is poised to showcase the full breadth of Freight’s potential—a coming-of-age narrative stitched together with youthful grit, melodic hooks, and the kind of honesty only best mates can pull off.

Whether shouted in festival fields or played on bedroom speakers, The Only Thing I Know is proof that FREIGHT are on a journey that’s only just beginning—and everyone’s invited to sing along.
