An Intimate Tribute To The Late Terry Reid And The Friendship That Shaped A Life In Music
Sometimes a song is written for the world. Sometimes it is written for one person. With “Terry,” French indie folk artist Guillaume Simon — known artistically as INDOLORE — creates something far more intimate: a musical letter addressed to a friend, mentor, and legendary voice in rock history, Terry Reid. The single arrives on March 20, 2026 across all streaming platforms, following an exclusive premiere on indoloremusic.net.
The story behind the track stretches back nearly two decades. In July 2008, Simon discovered Reid through the documentary Glastonbury Fayre, instantly captivated by the singer’s presence and voice. Determined to reach out, he eventually connected with Reid through a mutual friend, beginning a relationship that would soon evolve into a creative partnership. Their first meeting in Paris in 2009 led to the EP Shine featuring Terry Reid, recorded in a modest basement studio in Ménilmontant but carrying the spirit of rock history. For Simon, the experience felt transformative. “As soon as Terry started singing,” he later reflected, “I felt like I was diving into the book of rock legends.”
Over the years, the two artists continued to share stages and maintain a close friendship. In May 2025, Simon gathered a circle of musicians and friends — Bendja on drums, Fabrice de Battista on Wurlitzer and backing vocals, and Antoine Delecroix on bass and steel guitar — to record what would become “Terry.” Captured live in the studio, the track was conceived as a declaration of admiration and affection.
What followed gave the song an even deeper meaning. As summer 2025 approached, Reid’s health suddenly declined. The recording was completed quickly so he could hear the tribute himself. Soon after receiving the track, Reid passed away.
Yet the spirit of the song is not one of farewell alone. It is a celebration of influence, friendship, and gratitude — a quiet reflection that mirrors INDOLORE’s signature sound: luminous indie folk carried by gentle guitar textures and a voice that feels almost conversational in its honesty.
With more than five million streams across platforms and a growing international audience, INDOLORE continues to move with quiet intention. “Terry” also introduces the next chapter of his project, serving as the first single from the forthcoming EP La Vie Side B, expected alongside a vinyl release in spring 2026.
For Songlens listeners, “Terry” is less a single and more a moment — proof that sometimes the most powerful songs are simply acts of love set to music.
