In the ever-evolving world of pop and R&B, a new voice is emerging with a fresh and distinct sound—introducing Muse, the latest single from an artist whose unique blend of catchy hooks and heartfelt storytelling is quickly capturing listeners’ attention. After a brief hiatus, she’s back with a song that not only showcases her evolving artistry but also reflects her own personal growth. We caught up with her to talk about the inspiration behind Muse, her journey into music, and what the future holds.
- Congratulations on your new single! Can you tell us what inspired Muse and how it reflects your growth as an artist?
Thank you! Muse feels like such a special release for me. It’s really a letter to my future self, a manifestation of the most confident and empowered version of me. I think this song reflects my own personal journey—I waited until I was 25 to start performing because I didn’t feel ready before then, but now I’m in a place where I feel more confident. I wanted Muse to capture that sense of growing self-belief, while also showing vulnerability. It’s all about finding strength, even in those moments where you feel unsure.
- You describe your sound as a blend of pop and R&B. How do those influences come through in Muse?
I’ve always loved the storytelling aspect of pop music and the emotional depth of R&B, so I naturally blend the two in my sound. Muse has that balance—it’s easy to listen to, with a catchy melody, but the lyrics dive a bit deeper. There’s a groove to it that comes from R&B influences, but it still has that upbeat pop vibe that makes it accessible. I think the mix creates something distinctive but familiar at the same time, which is what I aim for in all my music.
- You mentioned that you came to performing later in life. How has that impacted your approach to music?
Yeah, I didn’t start performing until I was 25, which is late compared to a lot of artists. But I think waiting until I felt ready gave me the confidence to be authentic in my music. I’ve lived a little more, and I think that’s reflected in the themes I explore—self-confidence, personal growth, empowerment. My day job as an Assistant Head at a special education school also gives me a different perspective on life, and I think that makes my music more relatable to a wider audience.
- What are you most proud of when it comes to Muse?
I’m especially proud of how my vocals turned out on this track. I really pushed myself to use my full range and convey both vulnerability and strength in equal measure. The song goes through different emotional stages, and I wanted my voice to reflect that—whether it’s a soft, introspective moment or a more powerful, anthemic part. I hope that when people listen to Muse, they feel the emotion behind it.
- You’ve got some exciting live performances coming up, including a residency in London. How does performing live influence your creative process?
Performing live is such a different experience from recording in the studio, and I love both for different reasons. When I’m writing, I’m thinking about how the song will connect with people emotionally. But when I perform live, I’m thinking about how to make it an experience—how to engage with the audience, how the energy shifts when you’re in the same room with people. I’ve got a new residency in a central London bar and I’ll be performing at The Macbeth in Shoreditch, which is where I’ll be debuting Muse live for the first time! I’m really excited to see how the audience reacts to the song in a live setting.
- Can you give us a sneak peek into what’s next for you? Are there more releases planned?
Absolutely! Muse is just the start. I’ve been working on a lot of new music that builds on the themes I explore in Muse—confidence, growth, and self-reflection. I’m really excited to share more with my fans in the coming months. There’s a lot of exciting stuff in the works, and I’m looking forward to seeing where this journey takes me next.
- What do you hope listeners take away from Muse?
I hope Muse resonates with people in a way that’s personal to them. Whether it’s helping someone feel more empowered or just connecting with the message of growth and self-confidence, I want the song to leave a lasting impression. At the end of the day, music is about connecting, and I hope Muse helps listeners feel seen and understood.
With the release of Muse, this rising artist is not only showcasing her musical talents but also sharing her journey of empowerment and self-discovery with her growing audience. As she prepares for a series of live performances in London and continues to write new material, it’s clear that this is just the beginning of an exciting musical chapter. Combining catchy pop hooks with the emotional depth of R&B, Muse promises to leave a lasting impression on those who listen—and there’s much more to come.
