Beyoncé took to social media to congratulate country music legend Linda Martell on her Grammy nomination for Best Country Solo Performance. Martell, who was featured on the track “Spaghettii” alongside Beyoncé and Shaboozey, made history as the first Black woman to be nominated in the category.

In her Instagram post, Beyoncé shared a photo of Martell and wrote, “Congratulations to my queen Linda Martell on her well-deserved Grammy nomination. Your talent and contributions to country music are undeniable and have paved the way for so many artists. I am honored to have collaborated with you on ‘Spaghettii’ and to witness your continued success.”

Martell, now 86 years old, released her debut album Color Me Country in 1970 and became the first Black woman to perform at the Grand Ole Opry. Despite facing discrimination and limited opportunities in the industry, Martell’s powerful voice and soulful country sound gained her a dedicated fanbase and critical acclaim.

The nomination for “Spaghettii” marks Martell’s first Grammy nomination in her career, and it is a long-overdue recognition of her impact on country music. The song, which was released as part of Beyoncé’s visual album Black Is King, showcases Martell’s vocals alongside Beyoncé’s and Shaboozey’s rap verses, blending traditional country with modern hip-hop elements.

Fans and fellow artists have also taken to social media to congratulate Martell on her nomination and celebrate her groundbreaking career. Many have expressed their hope that this nomination will open doors for more diversity and representation in the country music industry.

The Grammy Awards will take place on January 31, 2022, and we can’t wait to see if Martell takes home the trophy for Best Country Solo Performance. Regardless of the outcome, her nomination is a testament to her talent and legacy, and we join Beyoncé in congratulating her on this well-deserved recognition.
