A soulful indie-rock anthem that urges listeners to seize the day before it slips away
Native Greek artist Nick Anastasakis, better known by his stage name The Afro Nick, returns with his latest single “Get There Before Noon,” a powerful slice of indie-rock that blends soulful grit with a freewheeling spirit. Out now via all DSPs, the track showcases Nick’s gift for weaving together stirring lyricism, thick guitar riffs, and electronic melodies into a sound that feels timeless yet urgent.
Now based in Los Angeles, Nick first found his musical voice on the island of Crete, where early memories of local Romani musicians playing guitars on Venetian cobblestone streets ignited his lifelong love for storytelling through music. After forming one of Crete’s pioneering indie-rock bands, Stray Blue, and touring the island, Nick eventually relocated to New York City, where his artistry flourished across the city’s vibrant music scene. His music has since been featured on PBS’s “Roadtrip Nation” and aired internationally on stations such as Cosmos FM.
“Get There Before Noon” captures a literal moment of inspiration—a bleary-eyed morning after a long hangout in NYC, where Nick realized he needed to rally himself to get to a recording session on time. Out of that simple yet profound moment emerged a bigger message: the urgency of living life fully and authentically. “You only have one life. You gotta do what you have to do and do it as soon as possible,” Nick shares. That ethos runs through every guitar lick and beat of the track, driving home its theme of carpe diem with raspy vocals and soaring production.
Joining Nick on this journey are long-time collaborators George Athanas on bass, recording remotely from Thessaloniki, Greece, and Grammy-winning synth virtuoso Leo Genovese, who continues to work with Nick in LA between touring some of the world’s top venues.
With its heartfelt energy and raw authenticity, “Get There Before Noon” stands as a shining testament to The Afro Nick’s ability to turn everyday life into anthemic art. Fans can look forward to more releases in the coming months, as the band plans for a small tour in 2025.
Listen to “Get There Before Noon” now and experience a soul-stirring reminder that life waits for no one.
