Latin music icon Ricardo Montaner is celebrating 40 years in the industry with a special project that will take fans on a trip down memory lane. The Venezuelan singer-songwriter has released a new album titled Ricardo Montaner 2 (Versión Montaner), where he revisits his biggest hits from the past four decades.
The album features 12 tracks, including some of Montaner’s most beloved songs such as “Tan Enamorados,” “La Cima del Cielo,” and “Déjame Llorar.” The songs have been re-recorded with a fresh sound and production, giving them a modern twist while still maintaining their original essence.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Montaner shared his thoughts on revisiting his classic hits. “I’m not sure if I sing them better, but I’ve been performing them for 40 years so I feel calm recording them again,” he said. “It’s like revisiting old friends and giving them a new coat of paint.”
Montaner also revealed that the idea for the album came from his fans, who have been asking for new versions of his classic songs for years. “I’ve always been hesitant to do it because I didn’t want to ruin the magic of the original versions,” he explained. “But after 40 years, I felt it was the right time to do it.”
The album also includes two new songs, “Las Cosas Son Como Son” and “La Gloria de Dios,” a duet with his daughter Evaluna Montaner. The latter was originally released in 2013 and became a huge hit, reaching number one on the Billboard Latin Pop Songs chart.
Montaner 2 (Versión Montaner) is not only a celebration of the artist’s career but also a gift to his loyal fans who have been with him since the beginning. “I am grateful to my fans for their love and support throughout these 40 years,” he said. “This album is for them, to thank them for being by my side and for allowing me to continue doing what I love.”
The album is now available on all digital platforms, and Montaner will also be embarking on a tour to promote the project. The tour, titled “Montaner Tour 2022,” will kick off in February 2022 and will visit cities in the United States, Latin America, and Europe.
Ricardo Montaner 2 (Versión Montaner) is a testament to the timeless quality of Montaner’s music and his enduring impact on the Latin music industry. With this album, he proves that his songs are not just hits from the past, but they continue to resonate with audiences today.
