A concert by electronic music duo Odesza at the Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington state ended early on Saturday night after pyrotechnics used during the show ignited a brush fire.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office reported that the fire, which broke out near the venue, was roughly the size of one-quarter of a football field. The incident occurred during the duo’s performance, causing the show to be cut short.
Videos shared on social media showed flames and smoke rising from the area near the stage as the duo performed. Attendees were evacuated from the venue as a precaution, and no injuries were reported.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office and local fire departments quickly responded to the scene and were able to contain the fire. The cause of the fire was determined to be the pyrotechnics used during the show.
In a statement, Odesza expressed their regret for the incident and thanked the emergency responders for their swift action. “We are deeply saddened by the fire that occurred during our show at the Gorge Amphitheatre. Our priority is always the safety of our fans and we are grateful that no one was hurt. We want to thank the emergency responders for their quick response and for containing the fire,” the duo said.
The Gorge Amphitheatre also released a statement, stating that they were working closely with the authorities to ensure the safety of all attendees. “We are aware of the fire that occurred during the Odesza show and are working closely with the authorities to ensure the safety of our guests. We apologize for any inconvenience and will provide updates as they become available,” the statement read.
The concert was part of Odesza’s “A Moment Apart” tour, which has been postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The duo has not yet announced if the remaining shows will be affected by the incident.
