Released on May 30 via LAB Music, Future Is Now marks a significant new chapter in the artistic evolution of 26-year-old trumpet and flugelhorn player Mike Mol. A native of Breda, Netherlands, Mike crafts music that flows between spiritual jazz, ambient soundscapes and free improvisation—delivering deeply felt, improvised expressions that are as immediate as they are timeless.
After a formative stint working in the Los Angeles music industry, a serious car accident altered Mike’s path forever. What had once been a career became a calling—his trumpet now a tool for healing, not only for himself but for anyone who listens. That transformative energy pulses through Future Is Now, a track born out of connection, presence, and serendipity.
The track’s origin story begins on an Ibiza beach in September 2024, during a wellness retreat co-hosted by Mike. There, a young producer shyly played Mike his unreleased work. What followed was a spontaneous jam session—just a bugle and an iPhone mic—which later became the emotional bedrock of Future Is Now. This moment of shared vulnerability was not only captured, but preserved in the final mix.
The piece then evolves into an inspired reinterpretation of “Origin,” a track by close friends and duo Todd & Klein. Mike infuses the composition with fresh drums and a cinematic flugelhorn improvisation, producing a warm, textured soundscape that merges homage with reinvention. With further production support from local Breda collaborators, the track took its final form.
To accompany the release, an evocative video was filmed around a monumental lighting installation in Breda, enhancing the atmospheric depth of the music. It’s a visual reflection of what Mike’s music is becoming—intimate, expansive, and spiritually charged.
Beyond the release, Mike Mol is gearing up for a new live act with a full band featuring handpan, keys, guitar and percussion. These performances promise to transport audiences into the heart of his vision: sound as ritual, as breath, as connection. With more releases on the horizon, Future Is Now is just the beginning of Mike Mol’s most inspired phase yet.
