Former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted is teaming up with Reverb to sell a collection of instruments from his time with the band, including ones used during the iconic “Black Album” tour. The sale, which will take place on Reverb’s online marketplace, is set to begin on September 9th.

Newsted, who joined Metallica in 1986 and left in 2001, is offering fans a chance to own a piece of metal history. The collection includes bass guitars that were played both onstage and in the studio during the “Black Album” era, making them a valuable and unique addition to any music lover’s collection.

In a statement, Newsted expressed his excitement about the upcoming sale, saying, “These instruments hold a special place in my heart and I am thrilled to be able to share them with fans who appreciate their significance. They are not just instruments, but a piece of metal lore.”

Among the items up for sale is a 1991 Sadowsky NYC Custom Shop bass that Newsted used during the “Black Album” tour. The bass features a custom black finish and is signed by Newsted himself. Other notable items include a 1991 Fender Precision Bass used in the studio during the recording of the “Black Album” and a 1992 Sadowsky NYC Custom Shop bass used on the band’s “Wherever I May Roam” music video.

Reverb’s CEO, David Kalt, also expressed his excitement about the sale, saying, “Jason Newsted is a legendary musician and we are honored to be working with him to offer these incredible instruments to fans. These basses played a crucial role in the creation of one of the most iconic albums in metal history and we are thrilled to be a part of their journey to new homes.”
