Maybe Human Explores the Primal Past with New EP Early Man

Los Angeles-based artist Maybe Human steps into uncharted territory with the release of Early Man, a genre-defying EP that blends Acid Rock with Anthropology. Released on April 11, 2025, Early Man presents a powerful musical reflection on ancient survival, human connection, and the raw wildness of early life, all narrated through a psychedelic, minimalist soundscape.

Teaming up with writer John Elkin, Maybe Human crafts a six-track journey rooted in deep study and modern mystical concepts. Each song becomes a channel between past and present, weaving evocative stories of ancient peoples and creatures through hypnotic prog guitar riffs, hip-hop-influenced beats, and stark production choices. Inspired by the thoughtful meditations of artist C.K. Kadrell, Maybe Human bends the style into a more psychedelic, immersive experience that draws listeners into the abyss of time.

Standout tracks like Crushing and Grinding summon a shamanistic call, reaching for something beyond mortal existence, while Aurochs Bull delivers a haunting narrative about survival, manhood, and primal vitality. The result is a gripping soundscape that feels simultaneously ancient and deeply contemporary.

Recorded at Garden Ave Studios in Los Angeles, with vocals remotely contributed by John Elkin, Early Man is a testament to collaboration across time and space. The remote recording process allowed for organic, fluid development, maintaining the immediacy and authenticity of the project’s vision.

Maybe Human hints at upcoming live performances, possibly in the form of record store appearances and living art installations. Meanwhile, two music videos for tracks from the EP are currently in production, promising to further expand the universe of Early Man.

Through its visceral storytelling and bold sonic textures, Early Man offers a fresh, stirring meditation on where we come from—and what still lingers within us.
