DeJ Loaf is back and she’s not holding back. After a decade since her breakout hit “Try Me,” the Detroit rapper has returned to the music scene with a lot to say. In an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone, DeJ Loaf opens up about her journey, her growth as an artist, and her highly anticipated new album.

The 30-year-old rapper, born Deja Trimble, burst onto the scene in 2014 with her viral hit “Try Me.” The song, which showcased her unique blend of melodic rap and smooth vocals, quickly caught the attention of music fans and industry insiders alike. But despite the success of her debut single, DeJ Loaf took her time to release a full-length album.

“I wanted to make sure I was ready and that I had something to say,” DeJ Loaf explains. “I didn’t want to just put out music for the sake of it. I wanted to make sure it was authentic and true to who I am as an artist.”

And now, after years of honing her craft and perfecting her sound, DeJ Loaf is ready to share her new album with the world. Titled “Sell Sole II,” the album is a nod to her 2014 mixtape “Sell Sole” and serves as a reflection of her growth as an artist and as a person.

“I feel like this album is a representation of who I am now,” DeJ Loaf says. “I’ve grown so much since my first mixtape, and I wanted to show that through my music. This album is a mix of different sounds and emotions, but it’s all authentically me.”

One of the standout tracks on the album is “Back to My Ways,” a collaboration with fellow Detroit rapper Big Sean. The song, which showcases the two artists’ undeniable chemistry, is a testament to the strong bond between the two and their shared love for their hometown.

“I’ve known Big Sean for a long time, and we’ve always talked about doing a song together,” DeJ Loaf says. “When I heard the beat for ‘Back to My Ways,’ I knew he would be perfect for it. We both have a lot of love for Detroit, and I think that comes through in the song.”

In addition to her musical collaborations, DeJ Loaf has also been making waves in the fashion world. Known for her unique sense of style, the rapper has become a fashion icon, with her signature oversized jackets and baggy pants inspiring a new generation of fashionistas.

“I’ve always loved fashion and expressing myself through my clothes,” DeJ Loaf says. “I think it’s important to be true to yourself and not conform to what society expects you to wear. I want to inspire others to be confident in their own style and not be afraid to take risks.”

As she prepares for the release of her new album, DeJ Loaf is excited to see how her music will be received in a world that has changed so much since her last release. But one thing is for sure, her unique style and sound will continue to influence and inspire others.

“I’m just grateful to be able to do what I love and share my music with the world,” DeJ Loaf says. “I hope my fans will connect with this album and see the growth and evolution in my music. I’m excited for what the future holds.”
