Blackpink’s Rosé Opens Up About Writing a ‘Disgustingly Vulnerable’ Song About Online Hate
Blackpink’s Rosé has always been known for her powerful vocals and captivating performances, but behind the glitz and glamour of being a K-pop star, she has also faced her fair share of online hate. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the singer opened up about her struggles with dealing with negative comments and how it inspired her to write a deeply personal song.
The song in question, titled “On The Ground,” is the lead single from Rosé’s highly anticipated solo debut album, R. In the interview, she revealed that the song was born out of her own experiences with online hate and the pressure to constantly live up to people’s expectations.
“I was addicted to reading what people would say about me on social media,” Rosé shared. “It was like a drug, and I couldn’t stop. But at the same time, it made me feel disgusted with myself for being so vulnerable to these comments.”
The 24-year-old singer also admitted that she struggled with the idea of being perfect and how it affected her mental health. “I always felt like I had to be perfect, and if I wasn’t, people would criticize me. It took a toll on my mental health, and I knew I had to address it in my music,” she said.
Rosé’s vulnerability and honesty in “On The Ground” have resonated with fans worldwide, with the song topping charts and breaking records since its release. The singer also shared that she hopes the song will inspire others who may be going through similar struggles.
“I want people to know that it’s okay to not be okay. We all have our own insecurities and struggles, and it’s important to address them and not let them consume us,” Rosé said.
The singer’s solo debut has been highly anticipated by fans, and with the success of “On The Ground,” it’s safe to say that she has delivered. Rosé’s album, R, is set to release on March 12, and fans can’t wait to see what other personal and powerful songs she has in store for them.
